Choose a few colors & Dress it up
Maybe you want to wear your favorite color or that colors you already have in mind for your wedding day. Either way the best tip is to be comfortable. Something that you don't mine staying in during your entire shoot and maybe even later for a post-session dinner. It's always great to have at least two outfit options (one dressy and one casual), if you have the time in your engagement session package. This allows you to have variety and show both sides of your style and personality. Choose one or two key colors and then mix in some neutrals to balance things out. And any patterns should be kept to a minimum. But most importantly, whether dressy or casual, let be your own style.
Choose a Theme
This is a great thing to decide on first! This helps us best tell your story. Maybe you want to reenact the proposal. This is a fun option, if there wasn't a photographer on that special day. It is great to relive that loving moment again during your engagement session. Maybe there are certain things you both enjoy doing or something significant to your relationship. We can always help you narrow down some options that make your session for you.
Choose your Location & Bring Props
Your location should be special to you both. Maybe a favorite pastime or spot in the city. Maybe you love the beach, the park, or a unique museum. Picking a place that you both have been to many of times, adds to the nostalgia and realism of your shoot and better tells the story of you both as a couple. Depending on the time of your location, we can recommend the best times to have your session to get the photos you want. Maybe you'll want to catch an evening sunset or go earlier to catch the locals and activities in the city or take it indoors to your favorite coffee shop. Don't shy away from props. The little details in a photo make it that much more special.
